Texas Hold’em is the most popular casino card game in the world. The rules are simple to learn, but any poker professional will tell you they take thousands of hands and a lifetime to master.
To begin the round, each player is dealt two hole cards. Five community cards are then dealt to the center of the table. All players must use these cards and their hole cards to create the best possible five-card hand.
Texas Hold’em variations include Limit Texas Hold’em, which enforces a betting limit for each game and each betting round.
No Limit Hold’em eliminates this rule, and players are free to bet all of their chips at any time. In Pot Limit Texas Hold’em, the maximum bet is the number of chips currently in the pot.
For Mixed Texas Hold’em poker games, the style of play switches from Limit to No Limit every other round.
Omaha is one of the poker games derived from Texas Hold’em and is quickly becoming more popular across Europe and the United States.
Each player is dealt four hole cards, which they can use with the five community cards to create the best possible hand. However, unlike Texas Hold’em, each player can only use two hole cards and three community cards to create the best five-card hand.
For Omaha players who crave bigger pots there are several types of Omaha Hi Lo poker games. The Hi Lo rules are the same as traditional Omaha, except the pot is divided between the best high and low hands for that round.
Limit Omaha Hi Lo sets a specific bet limit for each game and each round. Pot Limit Omaha Hi Lo restricts a player’s bet to the size of the current pot. No Limit Hi Lo allows the player to bet all of the chips they have available. Finally, Mixed Omaha Hi Lo alternates between Limit and Pot Limit during the course of the game.
Beyond Texas Hold’em and Omaha poker games, there are many other variations that continue to grow in popularity at both casual home tournaments all the way up to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

Stud poker – Each player receives a combination of face-up and face-down cards. There are multiple betting rounds. The most common stud poker games are Seven-card stud and Five-card stud.
Draw poker – A game where players are dealt a hidden complete hand, and then improve it by replacing, or “drawing” new cards. The most common draw poker game is Five-card draw.
H.O.R.S.E – This poker game combines Texas Hold'em, Omaha high-low, Razz, Seven-card stud, and Seven Card Stud Eight-or-better, and you have H.O.R.S.E. Each game is played for a specific number of hands, and then the next game begins.
Razz – Razz is a variation of stud poker. However, instead of forming the highest hands, players try to make the best five-card hand using the lowest cards possible. Therefore, the best possible hand in Razz is 5-4-3-2-A, also known as "the wheel.”
